Versailles Elementary 4th Grader Luke Edwards Places 2nd in Regional SIFMA Foundation's Stock Market Game
Congratulations to Versailles Elementary 4th grader Luke Edwards! He placed 2nd in our region in the SIFMA Foundation's Stock Market Game. He won a medal and a $75.00 Visa card!
Winners use research, critical thinking, and analysis skills to make real-world money choices. The Stock Market Game contest is a top program that teaches young people about personal money and real-world investing. In the program, students invest $100,000 in virtual money. They make investment choices in real-time. This helps them better understand money markets, how to spread out investments, and how to build wealth. The SIFMA Foundation keeps working with schools across the country. This helps more students get financial education. Teachers in Missouri use the program to support lessons in math, economics, and personal finance. As they go, students gain confidence. They see their research and choices lead to success in a fast-paced contest.
Students can work alone or in groups of up to five. They manage different types of investments. These include stocks, bonds, mutual funds, and ETFs. These are all traded on the New York Stock Exchange and NASDAQ in the online platform or SMG app. Students will watch world news. They will study trends. They will change their plans using the online platform or the SMG app.
"The Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association (SIFMA) congratulates all Stock Market Game participants for getting ready for their financial futures. We also praise the individuals and teams that came in first and second place this semester," said Melanie Mortimer, President of the SIFMA Foundation.
